Iniziamo dalle origini: 5 anni fa l’etichetta Diynamic ad Amburgo: in che modo è nata questa label?

Io e il mio partner d’etichetta Adriano Trolio siamo partiti con il creare eventi assieme. Abbiamo organizzato un party che si teneva una volta al mese chiamato DIY. Condividavamo un appartamento con H.O.S.H. Siamo diventati amici e poi abbiamo deciso di fare il grande passo: fondare la Diynamic Music. Abbiamo iniziato a organizzarci e poi tutto è successo velocemente. Abbiamo ricevuto un sacco di riconoscimenti e cosi’ la label è cresciuta.
A mio parere ogni label ha qualcosa che la distingue dalle altre. Noi abbiamo avuto una crescita non da poco.

- Il tuo primo LP “Dance Baby” nel 2009 con tracce suggestive come “After rain Comes Sun”: com’è cambiato Solomun in tre anni? Com’è cambiata la tech house e il modo di produrla?

Non mi piace dire che sono cambiato durante quel periodo ma ho fatto uno sviluppo che potrebbe essere conseguenza di quello che mi sta attorno e tutte le influenze quotidiane che hanno un forte impatto su di me. La musica cambia sempre e tu non sai mai quanto le correnti del momento dureranno. Per il momento penso che il cambiamento che sta avvenendo nell’house music sia notevole, almeno per me, perchè si sta mettendo di piu’ in risalto la parte funk del House e non la tech. Resta il fatto che il mio modo di produrre musica non è cambiato anche se la tech house è in evoluzione.

- La donna che si sente parlare nella traccia INTRO del tuo EP “Stimming” è tua mamma: che ruolo ha avuto nella tua crescita personale verso la musica? E’ stata da supporto o voleva un altro lavoro per suo figlio?

Certo, mia mamma mi ha ispirato perchè è una donna bellissima e una grande spalla per me. Mi ha sempre supportato in tutto quello che ho fatto. Va perfino a fare shopping anche con una Ego Bag.

- Il club EGO ad Amburgo di tua proprietà: raccontaci qualche curiosità e cosa significa per te quel posto.

EGO naturalmente significa tanto per me. E’ stato un bel progetto aprirlo e lo sarà ancora prendendomi cura di tutto. Quando i nostri eventi DiY venivano ospitati qui ci siamo subito innamorati della location. Tre anni fa quando c’è stata l’opportunità l’abbiamo aperto: eravamo tutti felicissimi ed è diventato come un figlio che non ho mai avuto.

- Ibiza e il Sankeys: come sarà presente la DiY ad Ibiza?. Ci sono artisti della tua etichetta che troverebbero spazio nei locali italiani?

DIY ci sarà in tutte le sue varietà. Tutti i nostri artisti suoneranno durante le 10 settimane della nostra residenza. Per molti di loro sarà la prima volta ad Ibiza, sono molto motivati.

La sacra famiglia Diynamic è pronta con grandi musicisti, quindi penso che tutti dovrebbero suonare in Italia.

- L’uscita di Kackvogel con la Watergate Records: Cosa pensi riguardo la GEMA (la SIAE italiana) e le nuove tasse che applicherà sulle città tedesche come Berlino?

Ho una grande amicizia con il Watergate ed è uno dei miei club preferiti in assoluto. GEMA non sarà applicata solo ai club di Berlino ma in tutta la Germania. Saranno tempi duri per noi proprietari di club ma dobbiamo fare qualcosa per cambiare, la club culture non deve morire.

Solomun (born as Mladen Solomun 1975 in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and raised in Hamburg, is a Bosnian DJ of House and Dance music.

Solomun started his DJ in 2002 and has been an active music producer since 2005. His first EP on Diynamic, Solomun EP, came out in 2006. Since then, he released many other Eps, compilations, as well as one album in 2009 called Dance Baby. Solomun, with his partner Adriano Trolio, created his own record label in 2006 called Diynamic. In 2011, a second label has been launched, 2DIY4, as an experimental record label.

He owns the Hamburg based club Ego, co-run by his sister and Adriano Trolio, figuring among the best underground clubs in Germany.

Solomun gets his inspiration from many different kinds of genres such as R&B, Funk, Soul, Hip hop, Disco or 80s music. His sound can be described as “house music, but with deep, ultra funky basslines, euphoric melodies and emotionally charged vocals”.^[1]

As producer, he also collaborated with other famous records.^{[citation needed]}

His success really emerged with his remix Around (Noir & Haze), elected Remix of the Year 2011 by Resident Advisor, that broke through the DJs’ planet.

2012 was an exciting and tremendous year for Solomun. Awarded as DJ of the Year by Mixmag,^[2] Producer of the Year by the DJ Awards in Ibiza,^[3] but also Best DJ International by the Cool Awards in Brazil.

With the Diynamic Neon Nights Events at Sankeys Ibiza,^[4] Solomun brought novelties on the underground scene and flabbergasted the partiers with his groovy and sexy sound. As he says in an interview on Ibiza Spotlight: “People have emotions. So why not on a dancefloor?”^[5]

Solomun will kick off Ibiza 2013 season presiding Burn Studios Residency bootcamp.^[6]
